Mersin AGROPARK has adopted the mission of transforming the region into an attractive center for R&D studies by making competence in science, technology and innovation in the agriculture and food sectors an accessible goal for our country, especially our region.
Mersin, which is located in the most important geopolitical position of the Mediterranean Region with its historical, economic structure and geographical location, constitutes approximately 2% of the total surface area of Turkey with its 1,585,300 hectares of land. According to 2020 TÜİK (Turkish Statistics Organisation) data, Mersin ranks 4th after Antalya, Konya and Şanlıurfa in terms of plant production value with 12.9 billion TL, 16th in terms of live animal value with 3.4 billion TL, 28th in terms of animal products value with 816 million TL and 5th in terms of total agricultural production value with 17.1 billion TL.
The second largest sea gate of our country opening to the world, Mersin Port, strengthened with a railway connection and with an installed area of approximately 8,000,000 m2, Çukurova Regional Airport, which is also the 4th largest airport of our country with its export and passenger transportation, carries the region to leadership in the field of agriculture and food technologies throughout the country. Mersin AGROPARK is located in the center of the regional hinterland and hosts our companies that will make their mark in the field of agriculture and food technologies.
Mersin AGROPARK is the first and only 'Technology Development Zone' specialized in the agriculture and food sector of our country and allocates R&D office/land area under appropriate conditions with the allocation method (suitable for regional acceptance or with positive results in referee evaluation) for the projects of individuals, institutions and organizations that conduct or will conduct R&D studies, and allocates areas to entrepreneurs who will build their own R&D centers. In addition to these services, it provides qualified technopark services to entrepreneurial companies/individuals within the regional possibilities in order to develop and contribute to the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Mersin AGROPARK Technology Development Zone, according to Article 4 of the Technology Development Zones Law No. 4691 (Which was mentioned as "TGB", in accordance with the decision dated 05.02.2014 by the Council of Ministers, was decided on 08/01/2018, published in the Official Gazette dated 31/03/2018 and numbered 30377, and started operating. It was determined as the “Mersin Agriculture and Food Specialization Technology Development Zone” in the maps and lists included in the annex of the Official Gazette.
Mersin AGROPARK consists of 2 separate campuses in the Heleke and Alifakı neighborhoods of Tarsus district of Mersin province. Registered on December 21, 2018, it continues its activities as the Mersin AGROPARK Agriculture-Food Specialization Technology Development Zone Founder and Operation Joint Stock Company (Mersin AGROPARK).
